\n\tBangkok Art and Culture Centre, Activity Division in cooperation with Films Forum present Cinema Diverse; a programme showing films from various countries. Films selected have content regarding culture and society so with this selection, filmgoers can gain perspective and idea which is from a familiar environment.<\/h2>\n
\n

\n\t\tAfter each film shown, there will be a Q&A session with director, cast, and\/or crew to acknowledge about the film as well as to share experience between the content provider and consumer.<\/h2>\n

\n\t\tThe debut feature film of   talented  Wisit Sasanatieng ,  ‘Tears of the Black Tige<\/em>r’ , with its  saturated colours, loud actions, melodramatic emotions,  created big waves when it was made,  and soon became a ‘hit’ on the international festival favourite. It was the first Thai film which was in Competition at the Un Certain Regard section of  the prestigious Cannes festival,after which it went to festivals in Sundance, Rotterdam,Vancouver, Seattle and various others .
\n\t\t 
\n\t\tThe  story of a cowboy hero and his trysts with love, with the law, and with filial revenge, have  been compared to the movies of Sergio Leone and Sam Peckinpah. It has also been compared to the movies of Thai ‘greats’ like Rattana Pestomji,whom the Director admired. Infact,he cast a favourite ,old-time actor of Pestomjee, Sombat Methanee,in the film.  The heroine however is a newcomer of  Italian-Thai descent, Stella Malucci. This hybrid mix is the highlight of   a unique and arresting film.
\n\t\t 
\n\t\tThat’s why the film has been described a ‘Pad Thai Western’.<\/em>
\n\t\t 
\n\t\t‘Tears of the black tiger’<\/em> has a multi-layered story that trips through many places and times. It is on one hand the love-story of  Dum and Rumpoey ,whose love is doomed because they  come from different social backgrounds .
\n\t\t 
\n\t\tIt is also the story of Dum taking revenge for his father’s murder, and  a tale of Dum
\n\t\ttrying hard to hold his own against other ‘outlaws’    like him.
\n\t\t 
\n\t\tThe action-packed movie, with its loud dose of  violence and emotions , is arresting both for its theme and its style, and  has became a kind of  cult-film in the country.
\n\t\t 
\n\t\tWe are proud to screen this unique movie as the last film of our   new ’Cinema Diverse’ Series in 2012, which  aimed to portray diverse cultures from different parts of Asia,in the presence of its director and actress.
\n\t\t 
\n\t\tOur previous films,  in the Film Series were ‘ Colours of <\/em>Passion’ (India), August Drizzle <\/em>(Srilanka), Nino <\/em>(Philippines), Clay B<\/em>ird ‘Bangladesh).

\n\t\tThis is the only Thai film in the Series.
