Opening : October 18th<\/sup> 2011, 6 pm.<\/p>\n \n\t <\/p>\n \n\tOn the occasion of the 150th<\/sup> anniversary of Italian Unity and in the framework of the “Italian Festival 2011”, the Italian Embassy and Chulalongkorn University, in cooperation with the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), are pleased to announce the organization of the exhibition “The Siamese Pavilion at the Turin Expo 1911”.<\/p>\n \n\t <\/p>\n \n\tThe purpose of this event is to furthermore stress the presence of a deep cultural tie between Italy and Thailand, which was already noticeable one hundred years ago, when a delegation from Siam set up an impressive Pavilion as part of Turin Expo 1911 organized on the occasion of the 50th<\/sup> Anniversary of Italian Unity.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n\tThe Siamese Pavilion, designed by Italian architect Mario Tamagno, who lived in Bangkok and worked for the Siamese Royal Court from 1900 to 1925, drew the attention of the 7.5 million visitors of the Expo fascinated by the life and civilization of the far-away Orient that where in those times as evocative as mysterious.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n\tThe exhibition will be divided into three main sections: <\/p>\n \n\tBeside these three main sections, a “Timeline” will help the visitor to retrace the history of cultural exchange between Italy and Thailand and anecdotal evidence will furthermore give the impression of experiencing cultural exchange in first person.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n\tFor further information on the exhibition, do not hesitate to contact the Italian Embassy via e-mail at ufficioculturale.bangkok@esteri.it<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Opening : October 18th 2011, 6 pm. …<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","archives":[558,562],"locations":[587],"attendees":[],"sponsors":[],"class_list":["post-58910","event","type-event","status-publish","hentry","archives-arts-network-exhibitions"],"yoast_head":"\n

\n\t– “The Architectural Studio”, which will consist in a trusty reconstruction of the studio of architect Tamagno in Bangkok, where some of his most intriguing art works will be displayed;
\n\t– “The Siam Pavilion” section, where it will be possible to understand something more about the history of the Pavilion, its content and location:
\n\t– “The Artist Studio”, in which visitors will have the chance to approach the life and work of Italian artist Galileo Chini, who spent most of his career in Bangkok.<\/p>\n
