\n\tGoethe–Institut Thailand and Bangkok Art and Culture Center are pleased to organize a special screening of Chasing Ice – the multi-award winning documentary, including Excellence in Cinematography Award at Sundance, in the context of the Science Film Festival in Thailand. Following the screening a panel of film, photography and science experts including Dr. Suchana Apple Chavanich, Associate Professor & Climate Researcher, Reef Biology Research Group, Chulalongkorn University, Robert Mather, Head of Asia-Pacific Cluster, International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Kowit Phadungruangkij, Editor-in-Chief, National Geographic Magazine Thailand, and Kong Rithdee, a film critic and writer, Bangkok Post Newspaper, will discuss the film and the issues portrayed.<\/div>\n

\n\tAbout the Film<\/strong><\/div>\n
\n\tIn 2005, acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog headed to the Arctic on an assignment for National Geographic: to capture images to help tell the story of the Earth’s changing climate. Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. Chasing Ice depicts a photographer trying to deliver evidence and hope to our carbon-powered planet.<\/div>\n
