\n\t\t\tBUTOH FEVER: THE 9th INTERNATIONAL BUTOH FESTIVAL THAILAND 2014 will take place in the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, December 4-21, 2014. The featured artists for this year’s event are Takita Takayuki (Japan),B-Floor Theatre (Thailand), Salome Nieto (Mexico \/ Canada) of pataSola Dance{supported in part by British Columbia Arts Council and the Canada Arts Council}, Butoh Co-Op Thailand, Valeria Geremia (Italy) of Sicula Butoh, Valentin Tszin of PoemaTheatre (Russia), and Paul Ibey (Canada) featuring Butoh performances and workshops.Exhibition and installation by Boaz Zippor (Israel), Teerawat Mulvilai (Thailand), Tawit Keitprapai (Thailand), and Stephen Funke (Finland). Also featuring a Butoh symposium, Film Screening: “Rite of Passage” by Juliette Yu-Ming (France\/Malaysia) and Solstice Butoh Jam featuring all artists with guest musicians.

\n\t\t\tWhy Butoh Fever, you may ask. There is a saying in Japanese, "If you sit on a rock long enough it will get hot." This is the 9th festival and it is steadily getting hotter. More and more international artists want to present their work in Thailand. Also, in Japanese culture the word for the number 9 is similar to the sound for the word that means "pain" or "distress". Katsura Kan has often likened Butoh as an illness that once infected, people's lives change. In other Asian cultures, the number 9 symbolizes completion of the three realms of existence; Mind, Body, and Spirit. Butoh is currently being practiced as a healing therapy as well. Butoh Fever may be your cure or your disease.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
