\n\tAs part of the exhibition What is not visible is not invisible: Selection from the 23 French Regiona Collections of Contemporary Art (FRAC), the BACC exhibition and education department present the Master Lecture conducted by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, a renowned Thai artist with his works in the collections of FRACs and won many awards from the prestigious Cannes Film Festival including the film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives  in 2010. In this lecture, the artist will share milieus behind the works, thoughts, process, and experience focusing on films in the direction of art. The artist will share memory, social, and politic aspects embedded in his works and also join in conversations with the invited curator Gridthiya Gaweewong who presented and worked with the artist from the early years.<\/div>\n

\n\tAbout Apichatpong Weerasethakul<\/strong>
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tApichatpong Weerasethakul (b.1970, Khon Kaen) grew up in Khon Kaen. Graduated from Khon Kaen University and received a bachelor's degree in architecture and master's degree of fine arts in film making the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He began making film and video shorts in 1994, and completed his first feature in 2000. He has also mounted exhibitions and installations in many countries since 1998 won numerous awards from various prestigious platforms. Often non-linear, with a strong sense of dislocation, his works deal with memory, subtly addressed personal politics and social issues.<\/div>\n

\n\tAbout Gridthiya Gaweewong<\/strong>
\n\t <\/div>\n
\n\tGridthiya Gaweewong graduated from Art Administration from School of the Art Institution of Chicago, USA, she later founded arts organization Project 304 in 1996, and is currently Artistic Director of the Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok. Her curatorial projects have addressed issues of social transformation confronting artists from Thailand and beyond. Gaweewong has organized exhibitions and events including Underconstruction (Tokyo, 2000 – 2002), Politics of Fun at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin, 2005), the Bangkok Experimental Film Festival (1997–2007) (co-founded with Apichatpong Weerasethakul), Saigon Open City in Saigon (Vietnam, 2006-07) (with Rirkrit Tiravanija), and Unreal Asia, Oberhausen International Short Film Festival (2010) among others.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
