Academic Seminar "FIGHT!: An investigation into creative art media in Thai social context"

Saturday and Sunday 4 – 5 August 2012 at 10 am – 6 pm


Mixed-Media Art Project of the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University conducts a public academic outreach program entitled "FIGHT!: An investigation into creative art media in Thai social context ".


The program aims to examine the roles of mixed media and new media art in the context of Thai contemporary period. The program will feature an academic conference and an exhibition resulting from a robot art workshop, entitled “Crocodile Kick: The Moving Art”

The seminar consists of three sessions as follows: 



Session one: Media and Meanings

The first session covers the definitions and implications of specific terms including mixed-media art, new media, media art, multimedia, inter-media, interdisciplinary art, trans-media or cross media and their relations to technology, including their roles or influences on societies, which are coeval. 



Session two: Media and Organizations

The second session deals with educational organizations that are governmental, private and nonprofit in order to explore the ways they cope with the advancement of media and the sets of media related knowledge that become increasingly sophisticated. 

This session also mentions the teaching approaches in which these organizations apply for encouraging their students and learners to meet the demands of modern-day societies.



Session three: Media and Creation

The third session considers creative aspects of individuals, groups of persons and business organizations (the mediums addressed in this session consist of photography art, performance art, video art, film, interactive art as well as art and design).

The session also explores how creators' choices on medium could satisfy their expectation, social needs and creative industries. The speakers' viewpoint on the development of media and media they tend to use in the future also included in this session. 



No registration fee is required. (The program will provide seminar papers and breaks for all participants during sessions.)
