art4d and British Council invite you to a Saturday afternoon design talk, as part of Bangkok Design Festival 2009, at Bangkok Art & Cultural Centre. The 6th Designers' Saturday brings you 2 young and successful design entrepreneurs from UK and Hong Kong.


Mark Holmes is one of the founding partners of one of the UK's greatest manufacturing successes of the decade -Established & Sons. During his time with Established & Sons as the Design Director he was instrumental in developing the company's business model whilst also bringing both new and established designers to collaborate with the company. Holmes worked with some of the world famous designers including Zaha Hadid, Jasper Morrison, Jaime Hayon,etc. He also contributed to the hughly successful collections as well as designing and executing an array of inspiring exhibitions. Holmes will talk about his design and business experience at the Established & Sons as well as his new ambition and aspiration at his new venture, MINIMALUX, the brand he launched early this year at the Milan Fair.

Douglas Young is the founder and CEO of Hong Kong's innovative retailer G.O.D. / Goods Of Desire. Born in Hong Kong in 1965, Young trained as an architect at Sheffield University and The Architectural Association in UK and then spent 15 years as an architect in UK. In 1996, Young founded G.O.D together with partner Benjamin Lau. G.O.D.'s aim was to sell products defining Hong Kong culture which is a fusion of modern Asia and western lifestyle. The majority of the merchandise is self-branded and designed in-house by a multi-disciplinary design team led by Young.
