Public lecture by the artistic director of dOCUMENTA 13 in Kassel / Germany 2012 Dr. Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev
Goethe Institute The Japan Foundation and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre invite you to the public lecture by Dr. Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev . This talk explores the nature of conflict and the relations between how it is articulated within an individual and within, or between, communities. While avant-garde art was once poised to heighten conflict and rupture, towards the building of new revolutionary paradigms through negativity and contrast ("fligere" – to beat or strike down), today art is often involved in building propositions on a local level as a form of collective therapy ("cum" – with), towards a healing of the disarticulations of the digital age and a new sense of the revolutionary process as poetic and embodied material.
