“Khon Prommas ” (Prommas Masked Drama)
Thanpuying Charungjit Teekara – Deputy Private Secretary to Her Majesty the Queen and the Director of the Production of “Khon” stated that “In correspond to Her Majesty’s command, The Support Foundation recently organized the Khon and classical drama performances in order to preserve the originality of traditional performance which is one of the most important national heritage, and to give the opportunity for the new generation to appreciate the art of Khon. To celebrates the auspicious occasion of 77th Anniversary Her Majesty Queen Sirikit , We agreed to display an exclusive exhibition (8th floor)
“The Ramakien Performance episode of Prommas” The production showcased newly created Khon costumes under the royal command of HM the Queen as an effort to preserve the originality of Khon , The performance was also aimed at preserving the craftsmanship in mask-making, embroidery, goldsmith, silversmith as well as the art of dramatic make-up. To complement the performance.
An Exhibition featuring the costumes, headdresses, masks, props and sets from the
Royal Command performance of Khon Prommas, staged in 2007 and again in 2009.
Also on display are photographs, a mock-up studio for sculpting the Erawan elephant,
drawings, video presentations.
