AVATAR DVADAS PART II

The second episode, inspired by the constellation LIBRA, is all about Cosmic Balance, Ma’at, as the ancient Egyptians called it.

In Thai classical music, music is supposed to sustain a balance between four different modes: ‘diid, sii, tii, pao’ – ‘plucking, bowing, hitting and blowing.’ The Second Avatar pits these four traditional techniques against four ‘alternate’ sound producing techniques ‘treading, digging, shaking and sweeping.’ The two systems of sonority are played against each other to provide new ideas of balance and order.

DO not miss the second movement of this year-long META-SYMPHONY created right in front of your very eyes and ears, music woven out of the fabric of Bangkok’s newest hub of creativity. This piece is designed for Bangkok Art and Culture Center, using all spaces, shapes and angles to be found within.
