Time: 17.00 – 18.30 hrs.
Guest Lecturer: Susa Pop
Guest Artist: Christina Kubisch
This lecture focuses on urban media with critical viewpoints in the media phenomena fast developing in the city, whether it is in the form of big or small digital screen, media facades, or electronic advertising tool embedded in public spaces. In our today’s modern cities are hybrid structures in which technology is invisibly interweaved in the perception layers of our daily lives, the lecture creates an awareness on the changes which are hardly visible to the eyes and are underlying today's cities. Through some samples of media artworks, the lecture aims to unfold digital structure that affects the psychology of people who live in the city.
Aside from the lecture is a presentation by Christina Kubisch, a sound artist who is researching for the Electromagnetic walk project in which is a special kind of investigation of sound listening around the urban environment. By walking with the magnetic headphone, perception of everyday reality changes when one listens to the electromagnetic fields; what is accustomed appears in a different context. Nothing looks the way it sounds. And nothing sounds the way it looks.
With the collaboration between BACC Exhibition Department and Goethe Institute, Thailand, this educational activity focuses on resonant aspects of media, proposing concept of media artworks in consciousness of the context and critical attitude.

About Artist
Christina Kubisch
Christina Kubisch, born in Bremen in 1948, has studied painting and composition in Hamburg, Zurich and Milan. She is a professor for audio-visual art at the Academy of Fine Arts, Saarbrücken.
Christina Kubisch belongs to the first generation of sound artists. Trained as a composer, she has artistically developed such techniques as magnetic induction to realize her installations. Since 1986 she has added light as an artistic element to her work with sound. Christina Kubisch's work displays an artistic development which is often described as "synthesis of arts" – the discovery of acoustic space and the dimension of time in the visual arts on one hand, and a redefinition of relationships between material and form in music on the other.
Her work has been shown internationally since 1975.
