Performance
BTF 2017
By Bangkok Theatre Network
Bangkok Theatre Festival (BTF) is Thailand’s biggest contemporary theatre festival with the greatest number of artists, works and audience. The festival started in 2002 with the cooperation from the Bang Lampoo community, the Bangkok Theatre Network and other entities including networks of artists, audience, teachers, students, critics, media and theatre aficionados. The festival creates a public space for everyone to meet and bond where emerging theatre groups are able to showcase their works, as well as exposes the general public to contemporary theatre. The festival has been held regularly in November of every year.
During the first ten years, the main venue of the festival was Santi Chaiprakarn Park and nearby stores in Bang Lampoo. It later expanded to other small-scale theatres and arts centres in Bangkok including Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). Then, from 2015 onwards, due to the changing circumstances of the theatre scene, the organizer has decided to move from Bang Lampoo to BACC with some performances staging at other venues along the BTS and MRT lines, in response to the increasing number of audience and emerging small-scale theatre houses.
In November this year, BTF will come back with diverse contemporary performances from various artists under the theme of "Sharing Moment”.
