OVERLOADED: The Intangibles of Emptiness
Pichet Klunchun and Pichet Klunchun Dance Company
ARTIST+RUN in collaboration with Bangkok Art and Culture Centre
An art exhibition to erase boundaries of arts.
OVERLOADED, as part of Pichet Klunchun Dance Company’s “The Intangibles of Emptiness”, conveys the limits and physical restriction of human bodies (dancer) and physical confinement of art space (Bangkok Art and Culture Centre). Challenging this limitation by creating new space for both the artists and the venue leads to questioning for new possibilities of creation, resulting in new forms and methodology.
At ARTIST+RUN gallery in early January, Pichet Klunchun Dance Company performed for about two hours, while creating art works which remain on exhibit for the following month as part of "The Intangibles of Emptiness" exhibition. In a much larger space, "OVERLOADED: The Intangibles of Emptiness" is a new exhibition in which the artists are constantly performing and creating art works, with the audience, all the time from 10.00-21.00 hrs.
“Dancers are people who use the body to create meaning in the empty space. The movement of the body takes place in the emptiness of the space and ends with emptiness again. With nothing left to remain in that space of emptiness, it is different from other art forms that started from nothing but ended with tangible things.
‘The’ refers to the dancer;
‘Intangibles’ those without physical presence; and
‘Emptiness’ empty space.
‘The Intangible of Emptiness’ is a record of emptiness.” – Pichet Klunchun
