The Unwavering Ideal KRAISAK CHOONHAVAN 72 years

To celebrate the 72nd birthday of Kraisak Choonhavan the founder of “Bangkok Art and Culture Centre”, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre Foundation Committee together with Kraisak’s Friends Network are presenting a prestigious art project in his honor. The exhibition takes place during 13th – 21stAugust 2019.
Kraisak Choonhavan lives a vibrant life. Even though he was born to a military family with his father being a former prime minister, he has interest in socialist ideologies and has always been progressive and visionary. He has gained high respect as university professor, senator, member of the House of Representatives, prime minister’s advisor and governor of Bangkok’s advisor. He has initiated many projects for Thai society for instance; Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Children’s Discovery Museum, Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park) and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. Apart from this, he is also a human rights and environmental activist who played an important part in fighting for the environment and rights of communities. Despite all these great roles, in his younger days, he also dreamed of becoming an artist.
Event Activities:
1. “Imagine the Sky” Another Vision of KraisakChoonhavan Art Exhibition
This art exhibition showcases 33 paintings and drawings never to be exhibited anywhere else. These art works show how Kraisak uses art to calm his mind and express his concern towards political and overall situations of the country starting from violence, flood, to coup d’etat. The art works also depict the artist who is fighting with cancer.
Apart from this, there are 15 more photography work that Kraisak reflects his dream of seeing the sky without giant advertising billboards. He used Photoshop to erase the disordered billboards to reveal how beautiful and attractive Bangkok could be.

Seminars exchanging knowledge and visions on the vibrant life of KraisakChoonhavan host by professionals and close friends of Kraisak on the topics:
- Kraisak on Human Rights, Environment, Wildlife, Nature and Politics
- Kraisak on Art and BACC

3. Music Program “Encouragement from friends to Kraisak”
Music and poem reading activities by Kraisak’s friends network throughout exhibition period on the exhibition on 3rd floor at 17.00.
