“AFTER” is a personal journey of Yang Shih-Hao, a circus artist who was turning 30. The performance examines how he reflects on “the form of circus creation” from physical condition, life experience, technical training, and body mobility. However, what are the new possibilities and motives? What can be new in the field of circus?
In the show “AFTER”, Shih-Hao had spent nearly three years to discover the so-called “contemporary circus” step by step and further rethink about the technique in circus through researches on and interviews of Taiwan’s circus history, his close performing object – cyr wheel and his personal training experience. Through the expression of his body, the object and the discourse, he tries to understand the meaning of life mobility and the traces being created along the way.

Copying has a bad reputation. And it’s surprising because, in reality, as social beings, from birth to death, we always copy. We all copy each other, and thanks to this fact, we connect, learn, and teach, thus allowing society to evolve.
In a fascinating blend of spontaneity and authentic expression, participating children, together with Animal Religion, navigate through a playful, emotional, and eclectic performance where the only guide is copying. From a copy, an original also emerges.

The classical circus prop “cyr wheel” is one of the most difficult items to learn in circus. In this one workshop, we will not try to pursue the professional skills and master the use of this circus item, instead we take the cyr wheel as a tool to reflect on our own physicality in daily life, how we could be inspired to "move" by the concept of the “cyr wheel”. During the workshop we will observe how the circle “moves”, how it circulates, and how it creates tracks. In the end, it all comes down to our own experiences , how we discover the balance of the “circle”.
