Bangkok Theatre Festival 2024

By Bangkok Theatre Network (BTN)

Presents nearly 80 live performances by Thai artists to one festival, with expanded venues in two main locations from November 9–24, 2024, at  BANGKOK ART AND CULTURE CENTRE (BACC), TK Park, and various locations throughout Bangkok.

This November, over 80 performances by Thai performing artists are gathering in the “Bangkok Theatre Festival 2024”. This festival is one of the longest-running and most comprehensive showcases of theatre and live performances festivals in the city. Audiences will experience various styles and genres, including contemporary spoken drama, traditional Thai performances, musicals, as well as stand-up comedy. For those into physical theatre, there will be body movement shows, mime performances, circus acts, magic shows, contemporary Lanna dance, and even hip-hop. Those interested in puppetry can enjoy puppet shows, object theatre, and shadow puppetry. Additionally, there will be categories for children and family-friendly shows.

This year’s festival will feature both renowned contemporary performance artists and emerging talents from across Thailand. Some familiar faces from television scenes will debut their live theatre works, offering audiences the opportunity to witness their performances up close. Along with the 80 performances, there will be workshops for those interested in learning the various performing arts, with opportunities to explore and develop skills under the guidance of the artists themselves.

The Bangkok Theatre Festival was first launched in 2002 at Santichaiprakarn Park through the collaboration of the Bangkok Theatre Network. Since then, it has continued annually every November, marking 22 years of creating a space for performing artists to gather and showcase their work. The festival’s main venue, BACC, continues to provide support, and this year, TK Park has joined as an additional main venue. Other performances will be held at various locations, including LiFE Studio, Lanna Ari Theatre, Hoyhon Park Silom, UTCC PA Studio (University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce), and OpenSchool ArtSpace.

The festival will run from November 9–24, 2024, at BACC, TK Park, and other venues across Bangkok. For more information and to follow the festival program, visit www.bangkoktheatrefestival.net
