Talk & Flim Screening Program “Shared the Shattered Worlds”
By Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and the Jim Thompson Art Center (JTAC)
The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and the Jim Thompson Art Center (JTAC) have co-organised the exhibition “The Shattered Worlds: Micro Narratives from the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the Great Steppe” in recognition of the significance of the issues raised. In response, they have launched a parallel public program entitled “Shared the Shattered Worlds”, inviting students, academics, researchers, artists, art practitioners, and the general public to engage with the complex puzzle of the Cold War.
This program features a variety of activities including talks, lectures, film screenings, and city tours that will take place throughout the exhibition period.
Amidst the battlefields of the Cold War, film and other medias emerged as a powerful tool of propaganda and ideological dissemination — wielded by both the free world and the communist bloc. Under the looming shadow of proxy wars and geopolitical tensions, cinema played a pivotal role in psychological warfare and cultural diplomacy.
On May 24 and 25, 2025, BACC and JTAC invite you to join special programs of talk, panel discussion and film screening programs under the title “Montage of the Shattered Worlds” in collaboration with Thai Film Archive (Public Organization). Featuring variety of films that reflect the use of this medium as a tool to conduct psychological warfare, Cold War propaganda, ideological dissemination, cultural diplomacy, and the construction of representations — impacts that continue to subtly shape Thai society to these day.
