Closing Talks: The Shattered Worlds Condition!
By Education Department, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, in collaboration with the Jim Thompson Art Center
Time: 10:30 – 17:00 hrs. (*Registration will open at 10:00 hrs.)
“If the Cold War functioned as an atmosphere—one that enveloped the “lifeworld” of individuals in a haze that was at once dim and luminous—what were the lives shaped within that atmosphere truly like?”
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, in collaboration with the Jim Thompson Art Center, invites you to collectively question the impact of the Cold War in our contemporary world through a concluding talk event titled “The Shattered Worlds Condition!” on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 10:30 to 17:00 hrs. (*Registration will open at 10:00 hrs.), at the Multi-Function Room, 1st Floor, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
This activity is part of the exhibition program “The Shattered Worlds: Micro Narratives from the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the Great Steppe”
As the final chapter of the exhibition, this full-day talk invites you to reflect on the far-reaching consequences of the Cold War through three key panel discussions: ‘Zomia of the Cold War’, ‘Hot ASEAN in a Cold War’ and ‘Exploring the Existence of the Cold War in the Future’. The Cold War’s atmosphere was not merely etched onto physical landscapes in the name of geopolitics but inscribed into the hearts and conscience of people—it also profoundly affected the human psyche, influencing our consciousness, social structures, lived experiences, and the way value, morality, and justice are understood. Join us in imagining possible futures and paths of resilience beyond the lingering atmosphere of the Cold War.
