BACC Volunteer Docent Training Program 2025 #2

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), in collaboration with United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company Limited, is now accepting ongoing applications for volunteer docents in the BACC Volunteer Docent Training Program 2025 #2. The program continues to open its doors to senior citizens and the general public who are passionate about service and interested in becoming part of the BACC team as knowledge facilitators. Selected participants will receive training in art appreciation, exhibition guiding, and cultural management. No prior experience is required. The program aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in art interpretation and exhibition storytelling, enabling them to serve as volunteer docents at BACC exhibitions.
This initiative follows the success of the 2024 program and continues to focus on creating space for retirees and lifelong learners who are passionate about the arts and eager to develop communication skills. It supports BACC’s vision of becoming a space for well-being and lifelong learning. The program includes lectures and workshops conducted by experts from various fields. All participants who complete the training will gain hands-on experience by serving in real docent roles in BACC’s main exhibition galleries.

Training will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 30–31, 2025 from 9:30 – 17:45 hrs.
Training Program Content
- Introduction to Contemporary Art for Docents
This session aims to provide an understanding of contemporary art and the responsibilities of docents in guiding and managing exhibitions. Participants will explore and analyze contemporary artworks while learning effective communication strategies that consider audience comprehension. - Audience Analysis for Exhibition Tour Design
This module focuses on studying audience needs, interests, and behaviors based on various criteria. Participants will learn different communication approaches to design diverse and engaging exhibition tour experiences. - Communicating Through Storytelling
This session enhances communication and presentation skills using performance techniques. It aims to help docents effectively connect key points to enrich storytelling, while also building confidence and improving their public speaking and personal presence. - Exhibition Guiding Process and Case Study
Participants will learn best practices and essential guidelines for conducting exhibition tours. The session covers visitor regulations, strategies for handling unexpected situations, and practical exercises in tour planning. Additionally, real case studies from BACC staff will provide firsthand insights into docent experiences.

Certification & Travel Allowance
**Participants will receive a certificate from BACC upon completing the training and successfully serving as a volunteer docent for at least three days (or 15 hours). Those who complete six days (or 30 hours) of service will be eligible for a transportation allowance.
Participants who complete the program must undergo a trial period as volunteer docents. They can choose their preferred day and time slot from Tuesday to Sunday, either 10:00 – 15:00 hrs. or 13:00 – 18:00 hrs. (5 hours per day).
