International Symposium: The Art of Holding Time
A Conservation Dialogue on Materials and Environment
This international symposium aims to foster dialogue on art conservation, deepening understanding of its processes, approaches, and significance, particularly within the complex and ever-evolving realm of contemporary art. Leading conservation specialists will share their expertise and first-hand experiences, addressing both technical considerations and factors influencing the lifespan of artworks, such as display methods, storage practices, lighting, temperature and humidity control, and the selection of support materials. The program also seeks to develop approaches for interpreting the materials used in contemporary art, enabling their thoughtful application in museums, galleries, archives, and private collections, with the goal of extending the longevity of artworks and preserving their value for generations to come.
