with “Climate Community Playground”
The Education Department, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and Just Transitions Incubator (JUTI), in partnership with Club Creative, invite everyone to participate in Climate Community Playground, part of The Chapter -1: Creative Learning Program for Youth and Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW). With Climate Community Playground we bring urban climate issues into public spaces, engaging participants through “street games” that invite them to embody different beings—, birds, frogs, or bees—and face local challenges together: heat stress, flooding, air pollution, and the loss of habitats. By playing, participants also explore possibilities for cultivating new alliances and multispecies networks of care and support within their communities.
“Becoming Another Being,” encourages players to step into the perspectives of other species and experience how they struggle and survive in the city. It is not only humans who choose where to gather, live, or play, but also a pattern shared with other beings. Players learn the concept of “Voting with their Feet,” which highlights how humans, plants, and animals move, settle, and share space—revealing invisible negotiations and collective ways of shaping neighbourhoods. So what kind of city truly embraces life in all its diversity? One sealed in concrete, where heat scorches on hot days, waterlogged when it rains, and tall buildings trap PM 2.5 in the air? Or a city reimagined by playing “Transforming the City,” where people breathe new life into the grey, turning it into a vibrant home filled with trees, animals, and living connections with nature?
Climate Community Playground is not just about play. It is an invitation to create dialogue and strengthen relationships among people, nature, and other species. Come and play, learn, and imagine together how we can co-create cities that are more liveable and sustainable for all beings.
This project is part of Climate Community Street Play, which has been developed by Ruttikorn Vuttikorn and Myriel Milićević since 2022.
