“Image of the Metropolis” is a creative work about the way of urban life. The purpose of this work is to present the lifestyle of people who live in big cities, who have to deal with busyness that forces careless behaviors in their routines, and to make people in society aware of these problems, small issues that have gradually become part of social norms. It also aims to question consumerism, which always focuses on “value” in terms of objects rather than the true meaning of value itself, while forgetting to take responsibility for the public. The methodology of this work is field research, focusing on specific areas such as Pathumwan, Charoenkrung, and Ratchadamnoen. Photographs were taken around these areas and then analyzed and synthesized into artworks presented through a mixed media painting technique.
The characteristics of both the physical form and the content reflect civilization and, at the same time, the chaos of the city — showing how strict yet careless people’s behaviors can be, overlapping simultaneously depending on the conditions of each area.
