El mentals
By Faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Khon Kaen University
The 29th Art Thesis Exhibition by fourth-year students of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, is presented under the concept “El Mentals.” The exhibition draws upon the four fundamental elements—earth, water, air, and fire—as the foundational energies of existence in both nature and human life.
The artworks are organized according to expressive states conveyed through each piece, such as stability, flow, movement, and transformation. This approach offers new perspectives on the concept of “elements” within a contemporary art context.
“Elements” refer to the essential components that give rise to existence and change in all things. The exhibition serves as a shared space where diverse artistic energies, conditions, and experiences come together. Although each artwork originates from different ideas and viewpoints, they are interconnected through the characteristics of the four elements: earth, water, air, and fire.
The exhibition presents artworks grouped by these states or energies manifested within the works—whether stability, circulation, motion, or change—reflecting both the nature of the world and the inner states of human beings through varied forms, methods, and interpretations.
El Mentals is therefore a space that brings together diverse perceptions in one place, comparable to a natural system in which various components interact to create balance, relationships, and new meanings that connect art, nature, and human experience.
