Aneradon in Frear
Aneradon draws inspiration from the Cypriot folk myth of the Anerades , mystical female beings that exist between the human and supernatural worlds. Through contemporary dance and live music, the performance reimagines their cycle of existence: birth, metamorphosis, and disappearance. Emerging from collective memory and the ancient landscapes of Cyprus, the Anerades embody desire, enchantment, and the fear of the unknown. The work explores the fragile boundary between the visible and the invisible, the human and the mythical, transforming folklore into a contemporary ritual of transformation. The performance was also presented at the opening ceremony of the cultural programme of the Cypriot, Presidency of the Council of the European Union at the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid. In 2026, Aneradon was featured in the International Museum Day celebrations at Larnaca Medieval Castle and the Archaeological Museum of Paphos. Since 2020, different versions and adaptations of the work have been presented across festivals, museums, and cultural events, receiving recognition at the Educational Leaders Awards.Live music accompanies the choreography, creating a soundscape where traditional echoes meet contemporary composition. Movement, rhythm, and voice intertwine to evoke a presence that appears, transforms, and vanishes, like wind carrying the whispers of the Anerades. Aneradon is a performance about the intangible, the feminine, and the mysterious presence that continues to inhabit collective memory.
