Cloudy and Friends : Happiness in the Isan Countryside

The Isan countryside is a place of remarkable charm, lovely natural landscapes, simple , yet unique way of life, deeply rooted in long-standing cultures and traditions. The relationship between people and their surroundings, reflected in rice fields, open skies, and the sound of laughter, creates lasting memories that embody a pure sense of happiness found in everyday life. The happiness of Isan people lies not in material comfort, but in community, generosity, and a deep connection to their homeland and local way of life.

Inspired by these values, this collection of works draws upon my personal experiences, childhood memories, and imagination of the beauty and warmth of the Isan countryside. At the heart of this series is my original character, Cloudy, a yellow cloud-headed character who serves as my alter ego, accompanying me as I journey through, observe, and experience the simple joys of the Isan countryside. Alongside Cloudy are a group of companions inspired by the natural environment, local landscapes, traditional ways of life, the flora and fauna of Isan. Together, these characters create a symbolic world where memory, identity, and emotional attachment to my hometown are reimagined through artistic expression.

I invite you, the viewers, to experience the quiet beauty and enduring spirit of my homeland from a new perspective, through the silk-screen printmaking process. Weaving, preserving and sharing the stories of my hometown through the universal language of art.
