BANGKOK ART BIENNALE 2026

Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB) is a biennial art festival set in the capital of Thailand spanning across a period of 4 months in which the bustling city of Bangkok will be transformed into a live hub that celebrates art, creativity, and culture. For its 5th edition, ANGELS & MARA, the Bangkok Art Biennale is organised in collaboration with Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), with the support of other private and public sectors. This year’s Biennale features more than 200 contemporary artworks by 72 artists from 29 nationalities around the world, presented across 11 iconic venues in Bangkok. 

Taking its title from Bangkok’s identity as the “City of Angels” and the figure of Mara — associated with temptation, desire and forces that obstruct enlightenment — ANGELS & MARA examines the contradictions embedded in contemporary existence. Across sacred architecture, museums, commercial spaces and cultural institutions, artists approach uncertainty, conflict, memory, spirituality, technology, identity and transformation from radically different perspectives. The theme does not insist on fixed opposites. Instead, it asks what happens when seemingly contradictory forces coexist — within societies, histories and ourselves.
