The debut feature film of talented Wisit Sasanatieng , Tears of the Black Tiger’ , with its saturated colours, loud actions, melodramatic emotions, created big waves when it was made, and soon became a ‘hit’ on the international festival favourite. It was the first Thai film which was in Competition at the Un Certain Regard section of the prestigious Cannes festival, after which it went to festivals in Sundance, Rotterdam,Vancouver, Seattle and various others .
