France is amongst the leading countries in Design. Be it a French designer or an object designed for a French label, some of these objects have left a deep impression in our minds and collective memories. In fact, some are so famous that they have been sold for a fortune in auction houses and been given pride of place amongst works of art in museums. In a certain way, they are true icons of modern world.
« Icons of French Design » is a collection of thirty iconic works representing French design in the 20th century, from Philippe Starck to Jean Prouvé, from Pierre Paulin to Ronan Bouroullec, not to mention Le Corbusier. French design has been distinguished by its magnitude to innovate and incorporate cutting edge technologies of its period, as this is typical for a country where engineering has earned such a prominent place. From the DS Citroën to the Concorde, and Le Corbusier’s chaise LC4, « Icons of French Design » Exhibition reflects a role it has established in the international design history.
