Photograph and mixed media exhibition: the volunteer spirit phenomenon in the 2011 flood crisis

Opening ceremony:
Saturday January 21st, on the 2nd floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre  16.00 — official opening by former prime minister of Thailand Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva 


 

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, in collaboration with Asa Thai Flood Center, M.R. SENI PROMOJ Foundation, are pleased to take up the task of gathering stories of volunteer spirit that emerged during the recent flood crisis — an attempt to mark a memorable chapter of a great social cooperation. The photograph and mixed media exhibition, entitled “The Story of Asa: the volunteer spirit phenomenon in the 2011 flood crisis, is held to shed lights on volunteerism and power of the Thai people unified during the flood. The cooperation and selfless dedication of each individual and organization to relieve social and natural crisis, was widely recognized the world over.

On display in the exhibition are photographs of individuals, groups and organizations that volunteered to ease the crisis. Aside from photographs, there are also mixed media installations, vdo presentations as well as talks during the exhibition period.

The Story of Asa: What When Where Why

The general public is invited to send in their photographs which show your voluntary tasks to relieve the plights of the flood victims. Along with your photographs, please share some details of the event in the pictures; such as, what you were doing, where, when, and most importantly, why you volunteered.

Your photographs will be posted on the exhibition board “The Story of Asa”, as part of our history of good deeds. Whatever voluntary tasks you did, big or small, what matters is that you lent a helping hand. So please send us your story and pictures at www.facebook.com/baccpage or email [email protected]

Up to ten photographs, size 1-2 M, are welcomed for each entry. Submission deadline is February 10th.
